1920 – RIC District Inspector Philip O’Sullivan is shot and killed.

RIC District Inspector Philip O’Sullivan is shot and killed as he walks along Henry St., Dublin with his fiancé. What happened after the shooting becomes part of the propaganda war between both sides.

In his book The Squad: and the Intelligence Operations of Michael Collins, historian T. Ryle Dwyer states that O’Sullivan’s fiancee was warned prior to the incident, “You are walking out with a Black and Tan. Beware.”
